While January might bring cold weather and post-Christmas blues, I have remained determine to keep my New Year’s resolution to make more time for friends. So after such a busy time in December it was great to have a quick trip up to Edinburgh for a girly weekend of Prosecco, glitter and gossip.
Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities in the UK in the winter there is so much going on and it’s so beautiful – perfect to cheer up in the winter. As well as the glorious castle overlooking the city on the hill, they have an enormous market full of handmade jewellery, toys and food.
So if you’re looking for somewhere to visit for a few days over Christmas and New Year or planning a weekend break up to Scotland’s capital anytime soon, here are my top bars and restaurants in Edinburgh.
The Drinks: Tigerlily
First up on our Luxury Girls’ Tour of Edinburgh are cocktails at this little gem, Tigerlily. Situated on George Street, Tigerlily has the classic sophisticated feeling that every girl wants in a cocktail bar. If you’re planning a night out, I would recommend calling ahead to reserve a booth, because this popular watering hole fills up fast and is the perfect place to kick off your weekend.
There have some of the best cocktails in Edinburgh with my favourites being ‘Fleming’s Moneypenny’ and their ‘Tiger Cosmo’.
The Dinner: Gusto
Next was on to one of my new favourite restaurants Gustos on George Street, which has delicious food and a great atmosphere. Differently not a good idea to visit if you have a post-Christmas diet in mind – oh well, but certainly a brilliant choice for ladies night. Compliments to the chefs, for their tasty Calamari and Burrantina Mozzarella starters from the Al Carte menu. But the pièce de résistance was the Baked Flaming Alaska! Fire at dinner! -What! Everything was so delicious and was definitely completely stuffed after. Our table was a late reservation at 9pm, and the place was buzzing with a awesome Friday night vibe would definitely recommend you check it out next time you’re in the city.
The Brunch: The King’s Wark
The morning after the night before… the best way to counter the effects of a good girly night out is brunch! There are so many fabby places to grab brunch in Edinburgh and my first choice is The King’s Wark on the shore in Leith. With a toasty and warm atmosphere The King’s Wark is the perfect spot to recover from a night with amazing food and a cosy feel.
So that’s the whistle-stop tour of my girls weekend away in Edinburgh with the best little places to try if you visit the city. This is a great starting point for any getaways to Scotland’s capital but it is my no means the only little treasures. Let me know which are your favourite highlights of Edinburgh and where you would recommend
lots of love
